Welcome to the 2023/24 Season
U7 – U9 Team Formation
This season P.C.A.H.A. has altered the programming in the initiation division to align with Hockey Canada’s player pathway.
This P.C.A.H.A. document should answer your questions about this new player pathway and how it is intended to help better support these players.
The AMHA Executive would like to highlight our player evaluation process so you are aware how the season will begin and how teams will be formed.
Practice and Evaluation Information:
Practices start September 10th
No evaluation prior to September 14th
1- Players grouped by individual birth year
2- Evaluated by Executive at practice, primarily by Division Coordinator
3- Players separated into Minor/Major groups
4- Groups re-assembled into dual birth year groups as well by Minor/Major assignment.
5- Evaluate groups at a practice
6- Evaluate groups in cross-ice scrimmage
7- Communicate final team assignments.
Please be very aware that while AMHA understands friends may be separated due to level of play and their Minor/Major assignments, it is not possible to make exceptions for player placements for this reason. The same exceptions can not be made for ride-share requests, AMHA can not guarantee team placements due to such requests. It is appreciated that you respect the placement of your child and understand it is intended to best support their development as well as their enjoyment in minor hockey.
Also of note is the potential that players may move between minor and major groupings multiple times throughout the process and no placement is final until after the cross-ice scrimmage evaluation.
AMHA supports the belief team sports is a great opportunity for kids to meet new friends and form new bonds through the mutual love of the game!
